Speech of H.E. the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Botswana Victor Sibilev at the Farewell Luncheon for outgoing High Commissioner of the Republic of Namibia Mr. Mbapeua Muvangua and Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Ibrahim Mete Yagli, Gaborone, November 29, 2018
Dear colleagues Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Heads of Diplomatic missions and International Organizations,
As the Dean of the diplomatic corps in Botswana, let me greet all of you at today’s Farewell Luncheon in order to mark the end of tours of duty of High Commissioner of the Republic of Namibia Mr. Mbapeua Muvangua, our current African dean, and
Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Ibrahim Mete Yagli as well thank them cordially for their good teamwork and active interaction.
As a rule the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation of Botswana gives the assessment of activities of Ambassadors and High Commissioners who are completing their diplomatic missions, but there are no doubts for no one, and this is confirmed by regular reports in the local mass media that our dear colleagues Mr. Muvangua and Mr. Yagli have worked actively, especially to expand Namibian- Botswana and Turkish-Botswana bilateral relations, implement diverse humanitarian programs with Botswana partners.
I also want to acknowledge, dear friends, Mbapeua and Ibrahim, the significant contribution of your spouses, to your successful mission in Botswana. All of us know very well how difficult it is to accompany husbands in a foreign land, to be a reliable ally and assistant to them, a keeper of a new and temporary home, at the same time carry out a very important mission in raising and educating children, sometimes breaking up between home and workplace of husbands.
We wish you, dear colleagues, every success in your further diplomatic activities, all your endeavours at home and abroad. Good luck.
In conclusion, I would like to thank the High Commissions of Mozambique, Zambia and the United Kingdom for their kind assistance to the Russian Embassy in preparing and holding today's Farewell event.
